ABOUT SALLIE
Where Stories Become Meals
French precision meets Southern soul in Fairhope’s most
intimate dining room
THE BEGINNING
A Place for Honest Food
Sallie opened in 2024 as an answer to a simple question: What if fine dining felt like cominghome?
In a historic cottage on Pine Street, Chef Sally Stringfellow created something rare—a
restaurant where the chef knows your name, where ingredients tell their own stories, and
where meals unfold without rush or pretension.
Every Thursday evening, the doors open to just a handful of guests. The rest of the week,
Sally brings that same care to private celebrations: rehearsal dinners, anniversaries, intimate
gatherings where the menu is built around you.
This isn’t a restaurant trying to be everything to everyone. It’s one chef, doing what she does
best, for people who appreciate the difference between good food and honest food.
“I wanted to create the kind of place where food matters, but so do the
people eating it.”
— Chef Sally Stringfellow
THE CHEF
Sally Stringfellow
Chef & Owner
Sally Stringfellow grew up on a dairy farm near Fort Payne, Alabama, where meals were built around what the land provided. Her grandmother taught her that good food starts with respect—for ingredients, for tradition, for the people you’re feeding.
Sallie spent her time on the Gulf Coast while attending culinary at Faulkner state. Her first interniship was at a sushi bar in Sanroccay, where she developed her eye for detail and knife skills.
Her last internship was at Mangos fine dining Orange beach, before hurricane Ivan. After hurricane Ivan, Sally worked a variety of jobs while the gulf coast was rebuilding. “I was lucky enough to get the sous chef position at Jesse’s in Magnolia Springs. I worked for Charlie and Janie Houser whom gave me creative freedom and open expression with local seafood and produce. Eventually working my way up to executive chef.”
“In 2017 I started my own private chef business, while raising my 4 and 6 year old daughter, Hattie Jane and Billie Lucille. I am so grateful for Fairhope. This community has given me so much encouragement and all the ladies who saw the potential and kept me going.
In 2024, after years of running Sweet Magnolia Private Chef services, Sally opened Sallie—a space where she could do what she loves most: cook honest food for people she genuinely cares about.
A Philosophy of Intention
Sally doesn’t cook for accolades or Instagram. She cooks to nourish—not just physically, but emotionally. Every Thursday night, every private celebration, every plate that leaves her kitchen carries intention.
“I want you to remember the meal. Not because it was fancy, but because it was honest. Because someone cared about what you ate and how you felt.”
Her approach is simple: source the best ingredients you can find, apply technique that respects them, and serve with genuine hospitality. No shortcuts. No pretension. Just food that makes you feel loved.

LOCAL & SEASONAL
If it’s not at peak flavor, it’s not on my menu.

NUTRIENT DENSE

MADE WITH CARE
THE SPACE
406 Pine Street
The cottage that houses Sallie has history. For decades, before remodel it was Tammy Williams salon, Mask and Mirror. People Still ask “where is Tammy?”
When Sally found the space in 2023, she knew it was perfect. The intimate scale. The downtown location change from steps from the pier to the”heart of downtown”
She transformed it into something that honors both its past and her vision: a dining room where just a few guests gather each Thursday, where an open kitchen lets you watch the cooking unfold, where meals happen at their own pace.
“This isn’t a restaurant where I disappear into the back. You’ll see me. You’ll smell what’s cooking. You’ll know someone who cares made your meal.”
Thursday evenings are open to the public by reservation. The intimate space ensures personal attention and an unhurried experience.
